Jack's Forest Raised Pork
In the spring of 2015, Cynthia was in Truro at a dog show. She called home to tell Jack her news when he interrupted her with excitement. "I just bought a pig!!!" he said. Cynthia wasn't quite sure what to say, although pigs were a part of their Small Farm Dream. Jack went on to tell her that he had actually purchased TWO pigs - a male and a female. And that the female would be having piglets in the coming weeks.
And so began our journey with wonderful, loving and delicious pigs!!! We now have 2 breeds - our original were Berkshire, which are a Heritage breed known for the calm demeanor, and we now have Durocs, which is another Heritage breed who are just as sweet as the Berks.
They enjoy a wooded area with 2 small barns. Jack has even built a couple of lean to's for them, as they most enjoy being outside. We range from as few as 5 to as many as 25, depending on the time of year.
